This blog post applies to NY providers (Dentists) thay currently have the specialty code “810” – parenteral conscious sedation.
What is changing?
- Specialty code “810” is going to be removed
- 4 new specialty codes are created to better capture the specialty of the dental provider and comply with NYSED regulations and align with adjudication and payment for anesthesia claims
The 4 new specialty codes are:
- Specialty Code “122” – Dental Parenteral Conscious (Moderate) Sedation, 13 years of age and up
- Specialty Code “123” – Dental Enteral Conscious (Moderate) Sedation, 13 years of age and up
- Specialty Code “124” – Dental Parenteral Conscious (Moderate) Sedation, under 13 years of age
- Specialty Code “125” – Dental Enteral Conscious (Moderate) Sedation, under 13 years of age
Newly enrolling dentists:
- Please add any of the above specialty codes
- The provider license needs to reflect the selected “specialty code” on NYS professional license.
Current dental providers with speciallty code “810”:
- Need to update the enrollment file with the appropriate specialty code (s)
- And provide requested documentation before DOS 5/1/26
- If not done- any claim submitted with specialty code “810” will be denied
