What is changing?

For any DOS on Jan 1, 2026 and thereafter Nebraska Medicaid (DOH) will discontinue the coverage and reimbursement of hyaluronan intraarticular injection fort the treatment of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis.


Why was this change made?

Due to lack of robust evidence demonstrating, the clinical relevance and therefore these injections are deemed not medically necessary. These injections will not be covered under both pharmacy and medical benefit.
