What is a Community Health Worker?
- A trusted individual that contribute to the community health outcomes
- Other titles fall under Community health worker- not limited to other titles such as outreach worker, patient navigator and promotores de salud.
What is changing?
- Starting 1/1/26- community workers need to get certified -certified through the Pennsylvania Certification Board
- Community Health Workers that are employed outside of UHC PA will have until 12/31/26 to get certified
Education/Training requirenment:
- 75 total hours of education from a PCB accredited CHW training provider gained within the last five years.
