NM UHC Community plan- avoiding costly denials

If you are a provider in NM that accepts UHC Community Health plan- then this blog post is for you!

As of 3/23/26- The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) launched Turquoise Claims, as one system of entry point for fee-for-service claims.

With this change came specific changes:

Requires claims to he billed with Taxonomy code
Taxonomy code needs to correspond to the Provider classification that is on file with NM HCA
ZIP CODE: the billed zip code in boxes: 33 on HCFA and field 01 on UB 04- needs to represent the physical location where the services where perfomed

What does this mean for NM UHC Community Health Providers?

Later this year- no specific date given- UHC will deny any cla that doesnt have the required information (listed above) on the billed claims

Additional Information:

For DOS 10/1/26 and there after the prescribing, ordering and rendering providers need to individually enrolled with NM Medicaid.
This applies to the following providers: pharmacists, providers participating as part of the group, attending physicians, etc.
