What is new?
- UHC will consider IgE in vitro allergy serum testing for any patient 20 years and older that have a Dx of moderate to severe asthma or symptoms of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.
- UHC will consider upto 20 allergen specific antibodies IgE tests per year- any patient 20 years and older
What will not be considered for reimbursement?
- ALCAT
- bead-based epitope assays- in vitro allergy testing
- basophil activation flow cytometry testing billed for allergy symptoms
- IgE multiple screening non specific allergen testing
- IgG, IgA, IgM and IgD in vitro testing with Dx of allergy symptoms
The new reimbursement policy will go into the effect for any DOS on 9/1/26 and thereafter except the following states: AR, CO, KY, NC, NE, OH and RI- for these states the effective date will be 10/1/26.
